If you're interested in your early family tree, and your ancestors came from Wales, then this blog is for you!

This blog presents genealogical data and stories about the ancestors and descendants of the Richard Leigh families that came from England to Wales from about 1560 AD to approximately 1850 AD. My name is Allen Leigh, and I am the great grandson of Samuel Leigh who emigrated to the USA from Wales in the mid 1850s.

I have a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Utah State University and a master's degree in Computer Information Systems from Boston University. I am now retired from software development, but I have served as an Adjunct Instructor in Computer Science at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.

I'm webmaster of several blogs, including

  1. I am Steven David Leigh and I live in Kincardine On Canada. My great grand father came over from Wale around 1860 and he became an Anglican Minister in Ontario. He kept a diary when he came to Canada. I believe I contacted someone from this site and they were able to identify the church and records of ancestors. My phone number 519-396-5928 and email stevendavidleigh@gmail.com I would love to make contact back in Wales as I would like to visit in the next few years. Dave

  3. Hi, writing from South Wales, one of Samuel Leighs G-G-G Grandsons we accidentaly found our way back here. I'm building a family tree and some of the detail and stories here is great to read, thanks. I can't find much info about Dorothy Oakley, Richard Leighs wife, and wonder if you were able to find anything more? I agree born in 1610, but some records I'm seeing suggest she lived to over 110 so I'm guessing there's a missing generation or two in there somewhere. I'm only searching the internet and driving around a few grave yards so not as professional as your fasmilies work! Thanks again.
